CHLA Research Study on Childhood Outcomes of Preterm Brain Abnormalities
Objetivo
The purpose of this CHLA Research Study is to collect and compare information from your child's magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans, neurological exam and neuropsychological assessments. We hope to find whether there is a specific pattern of brain changes associated with prematurity that will help with early screening, diagnosis, and treatment of brain injury in prematurely born children as well as identify a connection between MR imaging and neurodevelopmental outcomes.
Brain MRI must be done within months after birth.
Interested families whose baby does not have brain MRI can receive a scan paid for by the research study.
Participants can be recruited up to 12 years of age as long as they had the scan as a baby.
Participation in this study is voluntary.

Elegibilidad
Criterios de inclusión
- Brain MRI (within months after birth)
- Preterm birth (GA 25-36 weeks)
- English or Spanish speaking families
Procedures
Premie cohort - participation in this research cohort will last until your child is about 18 months of age.
Visit 1: One time brain MRI, maternal demographic questionnaire
Visit 2: 9-12 month neurodevelopment exam
Visit 3: 18 months neurodevelopment exam
6 - 12 year old cohort- participation in this research cohort will last one day.
Visit 1: Neurodevelopment exam
